Life in the Soviet Union

Agenda 1/28:
  1. Students finished the film about the Russian Revolution. Students learned about the fate of the Romanov family.
  2. Students read an article about life in the Soviet Union, taking notes in their logbooks.
  3. Students took notes on vocabulary relevant to the Russian Revolution.

Russian Revolution

Today students continued learning about the Russian Revolution. They finished watching a series of film clips about the fall of the Romanovs and Bolshevik takeover.

Russian Revolution

Yesterday students reviewed events leading to the Russian Revolution. Here is a list of the past several activities that students completed while I was out sick last week:
  1. Students read about life in Tsarist Russia. They took notes about four different groups of people: the Clergy, Nobility, Intellectuals, and Peasants.
  2. Students reads an article about the causes of the Russian Revolution and created a concept map and timeline.
  3. I gave a presentation about the Russian Revolution and students took notes [below].
  4. Students then began watching a series of film clips reviewing the events from the presentation.

Communist Revolution in Russia

Today student began by taking a quiz over WWI. They completed a worksheet about German losses after WWI. After, students participated in a simulation of capitalism through the game of rock paper scissors. Students then took notes comparing the simulation to Karl Marx's theory of communism.

The End of WWI

Agenda:
  1. Students brainstormed rules for countries aimed at prevent future conflicts. They focused on the causes of WWI and other wars.
  2. Students read and rewrote Woodrow Wilson's 14 Points into their own words.
  3. Students watched a short clip about the end of the war and Wilson's 14 Points.
  4. Students read an article about the Paris Peace Conference and the Treaty of Versailles and answered summary questions.
