Students began reading the first five chapters of George Orwell's allegory about the Russian Revoution Animal Farm.
As students read they took notes on one character and drew parallels to historic events from Russian history. In their logbooks they drew two timelines: one for the history of the Russian Revolution and the other for the book. Historical events included: Marxism/Theory of Communism, Policies of the Tsar, Fall of the Tsar, Stalin vs. Trotsky, Civil War, Industrialization & 5 year plans, Stalinism & the NKVD, and the exile of Trotsky.
